“Set the Table at Queen’s Park” – (video)
Jun 30th, 2009 | By Cheryl Smith | Category: Audio, Campaigns (incl.) Grassroots, Health| On March 18, 2009, a busload of people from our community attended “Set the Table at Queen’s Park” a rally in support of a Healthy Food Supplement. A Davenport community member, Cheryl Smith, spoke to a crowd of more than 200 people about her struggles to stay healthy while fighting cancer and living on a low income. |
I listen to you again and again, and I let it in. You are a Survivor, not some reality tv star wannabe, but someone who is living the experiences that we never want to acknowledge could happen to any of us. It is real, for example, when you come out of surgery for breast cancer (how many are all alone after that ordeal) and must pay their way home in a cab to an empty apt with nothing to eat and nobody to help. The illness alone is very personal and lonely already. And for you to get up there and fight for others, Cheryl you are an Earth Angel.
We are all meant to make a difference in this world….most people do not seek that occupation they are meant to find but you have found yours in the Peacock. A beautiful bird that while quite unassuming,…..can spread it’s beautiful wings to share abundance with others. I find this endeavour so encouraging and uplifting. I believe that you are going to make a big impact in this old city of ours and in the lives of many. You are living your role sweet Cheryl and it comes from your heart. I applaud you for your guts and determination and wisdom. You are my big sister and I adore you.
your brother Jeff would be so proud! of you!
