PEACOCK ANNOUNCEMENTS: May 2010
Greetings and welcome to our eleventh-11th- cycle here at Peacock.
Things have been busy here of late.
The big news is that Peacock Poverty has been invited to represent at it’s first poverty conference in the Fall of 2010 – as a purely grassroots/ autonomous enterprise. We consider this to be a milestone and an amazing opportunity.
Next, as well as covering the People`s Blueprint, Peacock is also filming for their upcoming documentary. It has been an exciting and informative adventure and we again are deeply grateful for the opportunities being afforded us.
A little opportunity goes a long way; that has been born out with the Peacock project and others.
Expect the next installment on The Panel May 3rd, 2010.
We are overwhelmed by the amount of material we have to share this month. Thank-you so much to each and every one that helped put this edition together. It’s great!
On that note, we will not publish as usual on July 1st, 2010-Peacock’s first birthday! Instead, we will sort through the archives and re-publish some of the great material we’ve already gathered.
Much more of May still to come. Posting at least weekly until August 1st. Always accepting submissions. peacockpoverty@yahoo.ca
We are looking for Regular Features, which will now be devoted to news from the ground about the ground. About us by us. Personal autonomy reigns here. All invited.
Stay tuned for details about Peacock`s birthday and other updates in June. Until we meet again,
May we prosper each and every one.
The Peacock team

PEACOCK ANNOUNCEMENTS: March 2010
Greetings and welcome to our 8th cycle here at Peacock.
Thanks to all of our talented contributors this month who once again have made it all possible.
A special shout out to all those with direct experience of Social Assistance in Ontario (and beyond) to contribute your stories, experiences, and ideas for change as we make history with the People’s Blueprint for Social Assistance Review. (Peacock Papers, March) Peacock has devoted a page to all things People’s Blueprint and related to Social Assistance. Your stories/articles will be highlighted here and it is ours and ours alone. Of course, we welcome suggestions and perspectives from all people, poor or not- and you will have your special place too. Every voice counts.
We also invite you to check out Front Page News for the top stories and to continue to enjoy the many offerings by category or writer, resources, campaigns, health, poetry, written word and visual art. Enjoy the music and join the conversation your way- in anyway you choose.
Keep Faith. Build Strength. Find Community.

PEACOCK ANNOUNCEMENTS: Feb. 2010
Greetings and welcome to another cycle.
Thanks to a grant from the Reva Gerstein Legacy Fund, Peacock is able to hire consultants and designers (who donate time as well) to increase access to and ease in the perusing of the magazine. Please excuse our “unfinished” look and empty spaces while we pursue this project. Thank-you for your patience.
This month marks the beginning of the People’s Panel gathering, training and exchanging. Peacock is pleased to accept an invitation to lunch with the panel on Thursday Feb 4th. and will be reporting on the gathering soon after.
While undergoing change, current news about the panel and its work can be found on it’s own page along the first set of tabs beneath the graphics. Note also, that there can also be viewed the Orginal Voices DVD along with Sima’s Story (a member of Voices and the People’s Panel)
Unfortunately, comments cannot be left on pages (will change) so we encourage you to send your input to peacockpoverty@yahoo.ca and it will be posted on the page.
The easiest way to use peruse this site is to go to the FRONT PAGE NEWS tab along the second set of tabs below the graphics. You will find ten “lead” articles there.
Checking out Campaigns, Community Resource, Editorial and such categories found along the right hand side you will find more articles and entertainmen that are not listed in the FRONT PAGE NEWS.
Poetry, music, written word, all categories may be updated at anytime during the month.
Community Board can be found on the front page below the Peacock Papers. Items of special interest and import are posted here for easy access.
We invite input. Our talented and committed contributors create Peacock cycle after cycle. It is a privilege to watch and work as it unfolds.
Peace First
