Maureen A. I am a creative woman who loves the arts, expression in its diverse forms, and literature. I believe in recycling, living green, and the renewable ness of Nature. I am a mother of six grown children and firmly believe in the phrase “necessity is the mother of invention”.

Opal S. I was born in Toronto. I am the 2nd of seven children. By the time I was seven, my mother was a single mother. I’ve lived in several neighborhoods throughout Toronto. I learned from my mother how to bake bread, make pies, cook on a wood coal stove, knitting, sewing, weaving, and some basic survival skills. I am glad to have been born in Toronto.
My interests are food security, community gardening, advocating to improve the quality of life for ALL, and providing dignified services for marginalized persons.

Cynthia R.  25 years ago I embarked on a journey of homelessness fleeing from an abusive man with my 3 yr. old daughter. There were no supports in place then for a Jewish abused mother because “nothing of that sort occurred in that community.” The road has been long and I have changed many policies with regards to safety and housing. I am a consumer/survivor as well as a breast cancer survivor for 2 years now. Poverty is not conducive to my healing.  The one thing that’s come from all of this is that I cannot be silenced by the powers that be. I’ll always continue to blaze the trail of change until the oppression no longer exists.
